Summary

  • The MCU's biggest problem has been people looking at the "phases" instead of each individual story like in Phases 1 and 2. The debate is whether the MCU continues full-speed ahead after Avengers: Secret Wars, closes off the multiverse for good, or if it soft reboots. It could do everything if it keeps the multiverse alive, so they might never end the Multiverse saga.
  • The Multiverse is a big-time cheat for shared continuity, because it deals with infinity. Literally anything is possible, and sometimes too many choices leads to bad ideas. However, it allows for Elseworlds and What ifs scenarios.
  • What if...? Already explores alternate scenarios with different iterations of the beloved MCU heroes. However, this could be extended to the MCU as a whole. Ending the so-called phases and sagas would reinforce the idea that movies and TV shows in the MCU are just an ongoing story, evaluating the new movies for what they are, on their own, and not how they fit into a larger puzzle.
