The Legend of Zelda's lore is infamously confusing and even inconsistent at times, but that doesn't make it any less important.

The Legend of Zelda has been criticized by players for its complicated and at times inconsistent lore between games.
Many Zelda games are direct sequels, and Nintendo has even released an official timeline proving that the games are definitely interconnected and related.
While there are undeniably contradictions between games as a result of the Zelda team's "gameplay-first" mindset, The Legend of Zelda's overarching mythology enriches the games far more than it hurts them.
